Miner, Security Guard remanded for armed robbery

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men charged with robbery under arms were today refused bail by Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Miner, Andrew Pollydore, 27 and Security Guard Keon Allen, 28 both pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on November 27 at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, armed with a gun, they robbed Rabindranauth Sukhram of one Toyota Primio motorcar valued $3.3 M.

Both men were represented by Attorney – at – Law, George Thomas, who made a failed bail application.

Police Prosecutor, Dinero Jones opposed bail on the penalty attached to the charge and that the duo allegedly used personal violence during the commission of the offence.

According to the Prosecutor, both men were positively identified on the CCTV surveillance.

Meanwhile, Allen also faced a narcotics charge, to which he pleaded not guilty. It is alleged that on November 03 at South Ruimveldt, Georgetown; he had in his possession 2 grammes of marijuana.

Allen was granted $50,000 bail for this offence and the matter was transferred before Magistrate Fabayo AZore for January 08, 2015.
