The Government of Guyana today commissioned the newly constructed Regional Police Division #7 Headquarters, heralding a major advancement in strengthening law enforcement capabilities in the hinterland region of Cuyuni-Mazaruni.

Constructed at a cost of $225,824,943, this state-of-the-art facility represents a pivotal milestone in enhancing the operational capacity of the Guyana Police Force in Region 7. The headquarters houses a comprehensive suite of specialized offices and functional areas designed to support efficient policing, improve public service delivery, and elevate safety and security for residents.
The building includes the Traffic Office, Special Constabulary Office, Certifying Officer’s Office, Community Policing Group Office, Human Resources Office, Data Room, Lunch Room, Waiting Area, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Offices, Special Branch Offices, Operational Room, Conference Room, Finance Office, Commander’s Office and Registry, Deputy Commander’s Office, as well as the Court Superintendent’s Office and Registry.
Each space is purpose-built to empower the Police Force with the tools necessary to enhance operational coordination, increase investigative effectiveness, and strengthen administrative excellence. This facility embodies a forward-looking investment in modern policing aimed at delivering safer communities, responsive law enforcement, and a justice system strengthened across Region 7.

Beyond operational improvements, the headquarters will serve as the strategic hub for law enforcement activities in Region 7, a critical area for Guyana’s economic development, particularly in mining and commerce. By improving working conditions for officers and modernizing policing infrastructure, the Government ensures that security services in the hinterland remain professional, responsive, and community-centered.
Previously, Region 7 lacked a headquarters of comparable scale and capability, presenting significant challenges in meeting the law enforcement demands of its vast and rugged terrain. The completion and commissioning of this facility effectively addresses these challenges and aligns with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ strategic vision to provide equitable and effective security services across all regions of Guyana.
This milestone reaffirms the Government’s unwavering dedication to enhancing the professionalism, responsiveness, and community orientation of the Guyana Police Force, ensuring that all citizens enjoy safety, justice, and security regardless of geographic location.
