Two fishermen are reported missing after the boat in which they were travelling was discovered on the beach at Tain along the Corentyne Coast, Region Six.
Visual Parmanand and Daniel Inchanally both of Cotton Tree, West Coast Berbice (WCB) had left home to go to Crabwood Creek to pick up the boat, and sail back to their village.
They left home at around 15:00h on Monday, according to family members, who said they men were expected to return home that evening at around 20:00hrs.
Reports are that the duo left CWC at around 15:30h and were expected to sail along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean to the Berbice River before crossing at the mouth of the Berbice Ricer to get to the Tree Door landing Site at DeEdward.
However, after some time had elapsed and the men did not return home, family members called their mobile phones but those calls went unanswered.
Eventually, a fisherman, who was reportedly at the Tain beach, heard a phone ringing. Upon investigating, he found the phone in a boat at the beach.
He answered the call and spoke with a family member of one of the men. The fisherman reportedly explained that the boat was abandoned but its engine had been running, and the men were not in sight.
As such, the police were contacted.
This is a developing story…
