A 19-year-old student of the Teachers Training College drowned on Saturday, turning a birthday picnic into tragedy.
Dead is Kowsal Persaud, 19, called ‘Jay’ of Airy Hall Sands, Essequibo Coast.
Reports are that the future teacher was out with friends at the Aurora seawall for a birthday picnic when they went swimming.
INews understands that his friends missed him and began searching for him. However, everyone’s worst fears were realised at about 17:00hrs when the young adult’s body was seen in the ocean.
Police from the Aurora Police Station were summoned and launched an investigation.
Persaud is the third child of his parents. (More details to follow in a subsequent report)
