An 18-year-old has died after the motorcycle he was travelling on crashed into a cow along the Danielstown Public Road, Essequibo Coast, Region Two.
Dead is Enrico Rodriguez, of Charity Extension Scheme, who was the pillion rider on a motorcycle driven by a 23-year-old labourer, also of Charity, at the time of the crash.
According to police reports, the motorcycle was heading south along the Danielstown Public Road when it collided with a stray cow that had crossed the roadway. The impact caused both men to be thrown onto the road surface, resulting in multiple injuries.
Public-spirited citizens rushed the injured men to the Lima Regional Hospital, where Rodriguez was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor. The driver was admitted for treatment and remains under police guard.
Just about a week ago, a woman lost her life in a similar manner. Yolanda John, 34, of Dartmouth, Essequibo Coast, died after the motorcycle on which she was a pillion rider collided with a cow along the Elisa Public Road, Essequibo Coast.
