A 16-year-old girl of East La Penitence, Georgetown was on Monday night shot by two stray bullets whilst attending a party at Mango Lane, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Injured is Reyna Depeazer.

An eyewitness told this publication that there was an incident unfolding between two men outside of the building where the party was being held.

One man was on a motorcycle while another was in a motorcar. The man in the motorcar reportedly pulled out a gun and fired two shots in the direction of the motorcyclist.

But instead, the bullets allegedly struck the teenager, who was heading into the party. The girl reportedly received injuries to her neck and arm.

She is currently hospitalised.

Up to the time of publication of this article, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) had not issued any official statement on the incident.

In July last year, seven-year-old Jeremiah Gustave was shot to his head by a stray bullet; he succumbed to his injuries in March this year.

Jeremiah was injured on July 9, 2024, while he was sitting at his mother’s food stall on Charles Street, Charlestown in Georgetown.
