Police are investigating an incident that occurred at about 12:00 hrs on Sunday, 07th September 2025 on the access road at Enmore New Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara, which resulted in the death of 11-year-old Kimberly Singh.

The incident involved a Canter vehicle (GAH 1139) driven by her father, Rupnarine Singh, a 40-year-old from Hope West, Enmore. In the vehicle at the time were her mom, Kamini Jairam, age 32, and her siblings (ages 3, 4, and 8 years old).

Enquiries disclosed that the Canter was parked at Lot 248 Hope West, Enmore, at the home of 29-year-old Rieaad Naraine, when the driver (Singh) met him about 09:00 hrs on the road and asked him to borrow the canter to take his family for a drive down the back of Enmore New Housing Scheme. Naraine said he told Singh to call and seek permission from his ‘boss man’, who is Takechand Rooplall (a resident of Clonbrook, ECD, and owner of the vehicle). It is alleged by Rieaad Naraine that he subsequently left Enmore and went to De Hoop, Mahaica, leaving the canter vehicle at his residence, parked with the keys inside.

When questioned by investigators, the driver (Singh) said he took the vehicle and was proceeding south along the access road in Enmore New Housing Scheme with his wife sitting in the back seat along with their four children at a fast rate when he lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a nearby trench. As a result, all the occupants received injuries to their bodies and were picked up by public-spirited citizens and conveyed to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where they sought medical attention.

Kimberly Singh was pronounced dead on arrival at about 14:09 hours. The body is at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
