At least 1,000 residents of Region Three are set to receive house lots today as the Ministry of Housing and Water – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) hosts another edition of its flagship ‘Dream Realised’ Housing Drive. The allottees will receive low, moderate, middle and high-income house lots at Pln. Lorenzo and Pln. Viva La Force in the new Wales Housing Development.
The allocation exercise is taking place at the Regional Housing Office in Pouderoyen. This initiative targets applicants from Region Three who applied by December 31, 2024. With $10.5 billion being invested for infrastructure at Wales, allottees can expect to have access to their lands before the end of the year.
Present at today’s activity are Collin Croal, Minister of Housing and Water; Susan Rodrigues, Minister within the Ministry; Mr. Bishram Kuppen, Permanent Secretary; Mrs Denise King-Tudor, Director of Operations-CH&PA; Mr. Mark Anthony Khan, Chairman of the Toevlugt/Free and Easy NDC; and other officials.
Since 2020, over 44,500 house lots have been allocated nationwide. Of these, approximately 9,000 house lots were distributed in Region Three across twelve new housing areas. However, the region currently has a backlog of 14,000 applications due to an influx of new applications.
The Ministry is working aggressively to clear applications submitted up to the end of 2024 in all administrative regions, with the exception of Region Four, where efforts are focused on significantly reducing the backlog.
Region Four remains the most in-demand area, with over 45,000 pending applications.
Nonetheless, the region has seen more than 25,000 allocations since 2020 — accounting for about 60% of national allocations.
