Woman chopped to death at Crabwood Creek sawmill; reputed husband arrested

The body of Alisha Narine was discovered in the sawmill compound at Crabwood Creek

A 36-year-old woman, Alisha Narine, was brutally chopped to death earlier this morning, allegedly by her reputed husband.

The incident occurred at about 09:50 hours today, Sunday, September 14, 2025, at a Sawmill located at Grant Crabwood Creek, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).

Based on information received, Narine worked at the sawmill as a domestic worker.

Reports revealed that the victim and her reputed husband, Ram Singh called “Singh,” of Tain/Jones Settlement, Corentyne, Berbice, had a heated argument and subsequently, the body of Narine was found in the yard with several chop wounds about her body.

The suspect is in custody assisting the police with their investigations.
