Police are investigating the alleged murder of Paul Devonish, a 63-year-old security guard employed with Sheriff Security, which occurred on 2025-8-18, at about 18:30 hrs. Police have since arrested the suspect, Nicosie Clement, a 29-year-old female Security Guard employed with Sheriff Security.
Investigations so far revealed that on 2025-8-18, at about 13:00 hrs, an 18-year-old Security Guard employed with Sheriff Security was on duty at Tele Performance on Barrack Street,Kingston, when the victim went to the said location and abused a female guard, with a series of abusive language (expletives) and took away the female guard’s cellphone. As a result, the 18-year-old guard intervened and told Denonish he was wrong to take his colleague’s cellphone and he should return it to her.
Devonish dealt the 18-year-old guard two slaps to his face. The teen then left his workplace, leaving Devoinish and the female guard, and went to the Doctor’s Quarters located at New Market and Main Street, where the suspect (Nicosie Clement) was on duty with the teen’s mother, Vanessa Jones.
The 18-year-old complained to his mother as to what took place, and she told him to remain there and that the suspect would follow him later to his workplace to collect his lunch bag. On the date and time mentioned, the female suspect and the teen went to collect the lunch bag and were walking heading East on Barrack Street when the victim approached them on an electric bike from the opposite direction.
The victim told the 18-year-old that he was lucky he did not ‘box off’ his head. The suspect intervened and asked the victim why he was taking advantage of the teen, to which the victim then asked her if she had come to represent the teen. A scuffle ensued between the victim and the suspect, during which the suspect pulled out a knife from her pants pocket and stabbed the victim on his left upper thigh.
The victim then stood up for a short while before falling down on the road and began bleeding profusely from the wound. The suspect left the scene and allegedly threw the knife away in the Lamaha trench. She then went back to her workplace, where she collected her bag and went to the teen’s home.
The victim was picked up by the EMT and taken to the GPHC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was examined, and one wound was seen on his left upper thigh.
The female suspect was arrested at the home of the 18-year-old. A video/audio interview was conducted with the suspect, and she confessed to stabbing the victim. Several persons were questioned and statements taken as investigations continue.
