Update: Mocha woman was shot 6 times – police

Police are investigating the death of Tesirea Hyman, a 43-year-old businesswoman (clothes vendor) of Lot 625 Mocha, East Bank Demerara, which occurred at about 14:30 hrs today (Friday).

The alleged murder occurred at Mocha by two males wearing masks, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

A Police team led by Commander Regional Division 4B Superintendent Wayne DeHeart visited the scene and investigations so far revealed that the victim operates a boutique at Lot 297 Mocha (where the incident occurred). At the time mentioned, she was at her business place when the two suspects approached her on a motorcycle and attempted to rob her. She resisted which resulted in her recieving six gunshot wounds:

(a)Three to the left side of the lower abdomen

(b) Two on the right side of the lower abdomen

(c) One under her right breast.

The suspects made good their escape on the motorcycle in a northern direction.

The scene was processed and two 9mm spent shells and one suspected projectile were found about three feet away from the body.

Emergency Medical Technicians from Eccles Fire Service responded and the body was pronounced dead at 16:40hrs by a Doctor from GPHC. The body is at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The area was canvassed, and several CCTV cameras were seen. They are in the process of being viewed.

Investigations are ongoing.
