Police last evening Monday July 15, identified one of the gunmen who attempted to rob ‘Fuzzy’ Variety Store at Arapaima Street, Guyhoc Park, as 29-year old Dwayne Simon, of McDoom, East Bank Demerara.
Police spokesman Ivelaw Whittaker said that about 7:30PM, Simon and two other men, one of whom was armed with a firearm, entered the store and held up three customers, including Heron Dennis, 36 years, of Guyhoc Park. Dennis was shot dead during the robbery.
“The customers retaliated and began throwing missiles at the perpetrators, whereupon the armed man began discharging rounds indiscriminately. Heron Dennis was fatally shot to his neck and Dwayne Simon was shot and injured to his back and right foot” police said.
Simon is a patient under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital, while his accomplices managed to escape, the Police said.
