Police are investigating an alleged murder committed on Leon Fordyce, called “Nastyman,” a 45-year-old a labourer of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
He was reportedly chopped to death.
Another man, Shawn Lafleur of the same area, is also dead. He was reportedly beaten to death.
Details surrounding the incident, which occurred last night at High Dam, Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice, remain unclear.
However, this publication understands that Anganisha Newyear, a 40-year-old vendor of the same address, was also injured in the incident.
A suspect is under guard receiving medical treatment at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Detectives in Regional Division #6 are investigating an alleged murder/attempted murder that occurred yesterday (Sunday, May 4th, 2025) at Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice which left two men, Shawn LeFleur and 52-year-old Leon Fordyce, both of Angoy’s Avenue dead and a female Angelisha Newyear with stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations revealed that on the aforementioned date at about 22:30hrs, Lafleur in the company of Neon De Jonge, and an identifiable male, known only as ‘Thunder’ or ‘Bristol’ were engaged in an argument with 44-year-old Angelisha Newyear about threats made to the woman’s 26-year-old son Gregory De Jonge. The argument escalated and Newyear was stabbed to the abdomen and Leon Fordyce reportedly received a blow to the head, he was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
Shawn LaFleur was also stabbed, he was escorted to the New Amsterdam Hospital and admitted. However, he succumbed to his injuries today Monday (May 5th, 2025) while being transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Angelisha Newyear was admitted to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital; her condition is considered stable.
Gregory De Jonge, was arrested and is presently in custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
