[www.inewsguyana.com]Nineteen-year-old Godfrey Pereira appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry today to answer a simple larceny charge.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, particulars of which stated that on Thursday, February 6 at Quamina Street, Georgetown, he stole one Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued $120,000 from Ronnie Hooper.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant told the Court that the defendant’s father works with the virtual complainant. He said at around 10:30hrs that day, Pereira’s father took his boss’s car to the wash bay he works and after he returned with the vehicle, Hooper noticed that his cellular phone was missing. The father questioned him about the phone and he denied stealing the item.

The Prosecutor said Hooper made a report to the Police and when he was arrested, he took Police to his home where he kept the phone.
