Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Wednesday October 7, 2026, about 16:00hrs, on Eccles Access Road (Dumpsite Road), East Bank Demerara, involving motorcycle #CL 5461, driven by

Vitor Leca-De Alencar, a 16-year-old resident of Green Acres, East Bank Demerara, was killed after crashing into a lantern pole along the Eccles (Dumpsite Road) Access Road, EBD.

The accident occurred at around 16:00h on Wednesday (October 7, 2026).

According to police reports, initial enquiries revealed that the teen was driving motorcycle #CL 5461, proceeding west along the southern carriageway of Eccles Access Road, reportedly at a fast rate of speed, when he lost control while negotiating a right bend and collided with a lamp pole situated on the median separating the two carriageways.

As a result of the collision, Alencar fell onto the road surface and sustained injuries to his head and other parts of his body.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were summoned to the scene, where Alencar was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

His body was subsequently escorted to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
