Taxi Driver refused bail on $1.5M Simple Larceny Charge

DSC05346[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Taxi Driver, charged with simple larceny was remanded to prison when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with simple larceny on Wednesday October 23.

Sixty – four – year – old Berty Gulliver of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara pleaded not guilty to the charge which read that on October 16 at Sheriff Street Georgetown he stole several items totaling $1.5 million, property of Nicolas Buridge.

Attorney-at-Law Paul Fung-A-Fat while making an application for reasonable bail told the court that the cost for the stolen items was inflated.

However, Police Prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue objected to bail and told the court that the accused may not return to court for trail if bail is granted. The accused was remanded and will make his next court appearance on November 5. [Royan Abrams]
