Police are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Monday June 29, 2026, about 20:00hrs, at Covent Garden New Scheme, East Bank Demerara, committed on a 20-year-old auto body technician of the said area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was walking east along Covent Garden New Scheme with his cellular phone in his hand, when two males on a motorcycle approached him from behind.
One of the suspects, who was reportedly armed with a suspected handgun, dismounted the motorcycle, pointed the weapon at the victim, and relieved him of the cellular phone before escaping with the other suspect.
The matter was subsequently reported to the Police and the cellular phone was later recovered.
Two suspects, ages 25 and 18, were arrested and escorted to the Providence Police Station, where they were placed into custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
