Twenty-two-year-old Orin Fraser, also known as “Lilawattie”, was this week brought before Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty, where he was charged, fined, and placed on bail in relation to two separate incidents: one involving the alleged theft of a $3 million motorcar, cash and a cellphone, and the other for damaging property at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Fraser, a sex worker of Princes and Haley Streets, Georgetown, is accused of stealing a brown motorcar, registration PAK 537, valued at $3 million, along with $45,000 in cash and a smartphone worth $40,000, during an incident on August 27 at King and North Road.
Fraser pleaded not guilty, claiming that the car and the smartphone were returned and that he had partially settled the matter by paying the complainant $20,000 out of $40,000. The complainant confirmed receiving back his vehicle and a partial cash payment, but maintained that his phone had not been returned.
Meanwhile, Fraser pleaded guilty to damaging a computer monitor valued at $45,000 at GPHC during a separate incident on September 7. He told the court he had gone to the hospital to seek treatment to flush ecstasy from his system when he was allegedly assaulted by a security guard. Under the influence of alcohol and drugs, Fraser said he could not recall throwing anything but admitted that the monitor may have been broken during the scuffle.
The Chief Magistrate fined him $50,000 with an alternative of two months’ imprisonment for the property damage charge, and granted $75,000 bail on the larceny matter.
Fraser, who is no stranger to the criminal justice system, is scheduled to return to court on October 1 for continuation of the proceedings.
