Residents of Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) were today warned to be on the lookout for “force-ripe” politicians and leaders.

Speaking at the People’s Progressive Party/Civic Elections Rally today at Lethem, former Chairman of the National Toshaos Council (NTC) Joel Federicks that new political leaders are “popping up” everywhere.

“What we’re seeing today is force-ripe leaders… But tell me, anything that is force-ripe is good? No! So, when the force-ripe leaders come to you, tell them no… Beware of the force-ripe politicians and force-ripe leaders,” Federicks stated.

He said the PPP/C have experienced leaders with a track record of progress and development to show.

“Every time the PPP/C government is in power, things are happening for the people,” he stated.

The former NTC Chairman added, “You don’t wake up one morning and say you want to run this country… Watch out for [force ripe leaders]. They will come to you, but tell them you’re with the PPP/C, and development will come to you! …Let’s continue this wheel of development to continue under the PPP/C Govt… and we don’t want it to stop. Vote PPP/C come September 1.”

Region 9 Chairman, Bryan Allicock

Meanwhile, similar sentiments were expressed by Chairman of Region Nine, Bryan Allicock, who said that while the force-ripe leaders are everywhere, persons should be cautious and think about their future – one that will be prosperous under the next PPP/C Government.

“The force-ripe leaders are everywhere but they can’t do better, and those that are following them, they need glasses,” Allicock declared.

Reflecting on all the progress and development that were brought to the region over the last five years, the Chairman assured residents that this will continue under the next PPP/C regime.

“This progress is not by accident… [The PPP/C] Government created a way for us Amerindians to enjoy benefits from carbon credits earnings,” he told residents as he encouraged them to vote so that President Dr Irfaan Ali and the PPP/C can return to office.
