Police in Lethem recently raided the house of the Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) Assistant Regional Executive Officer (AREO), Althea Fitzpatrick in search of narcotics, acting upon information received.
Divisional and Branch Commander of F Division (Interior Locations), Senior Superintendent Ravindradat Budhram confirmed to Guyana Times that the search was conducted; however, he noted that the drugs were not found in her house.
Commander Budhram disclosed that a quantity of narcotics were found stashed somewhere “in the vicinity” of her house.
He explained that statements were taken, but no arrests were made.
According to the Commander, though the narcotics were discovered nearby, there is not enough evidence to implicate the AREO. (Guyana Times)
