Queens College’s Arthur Roberts and Jayden Adrian have topped this year’s Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) respectively.
Roberts secured nine Grade Ones and four Grade Twos at CAPE while Adrian wrote 27 subjects, earning 21 Grade Ones and six Grade Twos at CSEC.
In an interview with the media, Roberts thanked God, his teachers, parents, family, colleagues for their support in his journey.
“I’m only here because of the people that have pushed me here,” Roberts expressed.
Speaking on his educational journey so far, the young man related that “there is no one way to success”.
“Simply saying what I did…will not be able to guarantee success for anyone else,” he reasoned.
However, Roberts noted that “with the correct will, with the correct input and correct discipline, anyone can achieve anything they put their minds to.”
Roberts said he is interested in the fields of science and research and may pursue careers in this regard.
Meanwhile, Adrian told reporters that he is very pleased with his CSEC success.
“I’m feeling very fulfilled because that’s all I’ve been working for, for that past two years, so I couldn’t have settled for anything less,” the young man noted.
He explained that the reason he decided to write 27 subjects was to secure a government scholarship to study overseas.
Adrian said he wants to follow the path of his father and grandfather to become a mechanical engineer, but noted that such hopes are subjected to change since he has other interests.
