The just-elected leadership body of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) will be meeting shortly to discuss its strategy to deal with the current political situation in the country.

Former General Secretary, President Donald Ramotar when asked by Inews about early elections responded that the new leadership body will review the political situation and develop the necessary strategies.

The New General Secretary of the PPP Clement Rohee said that crucial decisions such as calling early elections will be made by the collective.

The opposition one-seat majority in the National Assembly has led to a tense political situation with the opposition carrying out budget cuts and blocking parliamentary support for development projects with the latest being the Amaila Falls hydroproject.

The opposition says its action is reflecting the will of the majority.
