The Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) is now projected to win Region Eight – in a move that will see the party securing victories in eight of the ten administration regions of the country in this year’s General and Regional Elections.
This means that the PPP/C is projected to return to the National Assembly with a greater majority.
The PPP/C is already projected to win Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9.
Regions 7 and 10 are projected to be won by the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party – a major blow to the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) which previously controlled those regions.
APNU also historically controlled Region Four – the country’s largest voting district and home to the capital city, Georgetown.
GECOM has not yet officially declared the results of Monday’s elections.
