Guyana’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, has made it clear that the Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) “has never and will never abandon our Amerindian communities”.
Rodrigues-Birkett, who hails from the community of Santa Rosa, Region One, made the remarks at the party’s grand and final rally before Monday’s elections which is ongoing at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
Rodrigues-Birkett declared that the party is ready for its largest victory ever and is confident in the support from her Amerindian colleagues.
She reminded that under the PPP/C – especially in the last five years – every Amerindian community across the country has seen development in every aspect of life.
Rodrigues-Birkett also made it clear that the party will always condemn any action by anyone or any party who will stand in the way of Amerindian development and who will disrespect Amerindians.
Meanwhile, Rodrigues-Birkett emphasised that the PPP/C’s group of leaders is the only proven set to take the country forward.
She emphasised that the PPP/C has shown that “when we commit, we deliver”.
“We have the right team to lead us,” she noted, adding that development has touched every community across the country.
In fact, she pointed out there are countries with far more resources than Guyana that were brought to their knees because of bad leadership.
“We have never had a better trio of leadership in this country,” she noted, referring to President Dr Irfaan Ali, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo.
