A Policeman attached to the Ruimveldt Police Station was on Friday hauled before City Magistrate Judy Latchman charged for threatening to kill his girlfriend.

Randy Martin, 36, of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown denied all charges brought against him when he made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The first charge read that between April 1-18, 2017, at South Ruimveldt Park, Georgetown, he unlawfully assaulted Cassandra Wickham.

He was also charged for assaulting Wickham at the Georgetown seawall on April 17, 2017.

The final charge against him alleged that he used threatening language against Wickham between April 1-13, 2017.
The court was informed by Police Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves that the defendant and Virtual Complainant (VC) share a relationship, which was reportedly abusive.

The court was told that the Policeman reportedly armed himself with a firearm and threatened to kill the VC.
He allegedly forced himself onto her and kissed her during the reported assault, the court was told.

The matter was reported by the VC, and as such, the Policeman was arrested and charged.

Martin was granted bail in the sum of $90,000 and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on September 29.
