Four persons have been arrested after ranks of the Guyana Police Force, acting on intelligence, conducted an operation earlier today (Sunday, November 9, 2025) at Aramu Backdam, Cuyuni River in Region #7, which resulted in the discovery of a firearm, ammunition and a quantity of suspected narcotics.
During the operation, ranks searched the business premises of a 33-year-old businessman of Queenstown, Georgetown, and his 37-year-old reputed wife of Aramu Landing.
A 12-gauge shotgun with its serial number filed off, an air pistol and six (6) 12-gauge live cartridges were found during the search.

Further searches were carried out at another building within the same compound, occupied by a 38-year-old gold miner of West Watooka Hilltop, Linden, and his 27-year-old reputed wife, also of Aramu Landing.
There, the police discovered quantities of suspected cannabis, including substances believed to be cocaine and amphetamine. The items were seized, and all the suspects were arrested.
The suspected narcotics were later weighed in the presence of the suspects.
All exhibits were sealed and lodged. The four suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
