The Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has completed their investigation into the allegation made against an Inspector and three other ranks of the Guyana Police Force, following a complaint made by a Chinese businessman that during a ‘stop and search’ exercise the ranks searched his vehicle, and in the process of them doing so, they stole the sum of four million dollars in Guyana currency ($4M).
The four ranks were subsequently detained and placed under closed arrest on Thursday, the 14th of August 2025, and have since been released under open arrest but remain at the Tactical Service Unit.
The case file is expected to be submitted to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Chambers on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, for legal advice.
