Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Wednesday July 22, 2026, about 23:20hrs on Amelia’s Ward Public Road, Linden, involving motor car #PAF 6133, driven by a 25-year-old resident of South Amelia’s Ward Housing Scheme, Linden and pedestrian Jahiem Mc Bean, a 23-year-old resident of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Initial enquiries revealed that motor car #PAF 6133 was proceeding east along the northern side of Amelia’s Ward Public Road, allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when the pedestrian, who was standing on the northern side of the road, suddenly attempted to cross from north to south. The driver reportedly applied brakes and swerved right in an attempt to avoid a collision; however, the left front portion of the motor car struck the pedestrian.
As a result of the collision, Jahiem Mc Bean sustained injuries about his body and was transported to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
The body is presently at the Linden Senior Citizens Association Funeral Home and Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Breathalyser tests conducted on the driver returned readings of 0.10 and 0.09 micrograms, respectively.
The driver is presently in Police custody as investigations continue.
