George who is from Linden has won three Carifta gold medals and has represented Guyana well on the international scene. The organizers of the meet started an impromptu fund for the 1500 metres star during the course of the event and donated all the proceeds to the athlete.
It has become a tradition at the games for the organizers to make a contribution to an area they see in need of such types of contributions. George is definitely deserving of the donation from the meet since she is unable to compete at the event due to age, however, she will compete at the event next year for the first time officially.
