Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, today, met with a team from the World Bank in the Ministry’s Lot 26 Brickdam boardroom.
Minister Parag was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ms. Shannielle Hoosein-Outar; Chief Education Officer, Mr. Saddam Hussain; Chief Planning Officer, Ms. Misckha White Griffith; and Adviser in the Ministry of Education (Tertiary Education Reform), Dr. Kofi Dalrymple.
The World Bank delegation included Ms. Diletta Doretti, WBG Resident Representative for Guyana and Suriname; Ms. Lauren Marston, Senior Education Specialist; Mr. Hubert Forrester, Operations Officer; and Mr. Angel Bhojedat, Country Program Assistant.
Discussions focused on ongoing collaborative projects and the exploration of new opportunities to strengthen Guyana’s education system. Key areas highlighted included the integration of artificial intelligence, the digitisation of education, the enhancement of infrastructure, and reforms in tertiary education.
Minister Parag emphasised that these initiatives align with His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s vision of advancing Guyana’s digital transformation agenda.
