At least one person has been shot during a shootout with a gang of bank robbers early this morning on Water Street in Georgetown.
INews understands that four bandits attempted to rob the Republic Bank (Guyana) Water Street branch in downtown Georgetown. It is not clear whether the Police or Security Guards engaged the bank robbers in the shootout but INews was able to confirm that at least one person was shot and injured and rushed to the hospital.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that a private security service was about to make a cash deposit at the bank when the incident occurred. (Details and photos in a subsequent update)
