An early morning collision between a minibus and a motorcycle has left one man dead and one woman injured.
Dead is 27-year-old Timothy Emanuel Assing of Old Road, La Grange, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Reports indicate that at approximately 01:30h on Sunday, the minibus was travelling south on the eastern carriageway of Nismes Public Road, WBD, while Assing was travelling north on the motorcycle, in the company of a pillion rider, Shellon Glasgow.
It is alleged that Assing was blinded by the headlights of the oncoming minibus and veered into its path on the eastern carriageway, resulting in the head-on collision which sent the minibus into the trench on the eastern side of the public road.
Assing and Glasgow were rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where Assing was pronounced dead on arrival and Glasgow received treatment for injuries to her mouth. She was subsequently discharged.
The driver of the minibus, who was taken into custody, is assisting Police with their investigations.
