NOC escapees charged for robbing Govt MP

The two inmates who escaped from the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) were today (Friday) charged for break and enter and larceny and taken before Magistrate Ester Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.

Reports are the juveniles escaped from the facility on July 25 and allegedly went on a robbery spree.

A 16-year-old of West Coast Berbice and a 17-year-old of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara admitted to a charge which stated that they broke and entered the home of Member of Parliament Haimraj Rajkumar.

The charge stated that on July 25 at Johanna Cecilia they broke and entered the dwelling house of Rajkumar and stole boots, perfumes and clothing valued $129, 000.  After pleading guilty the Magistrate ordered that a probation report be prepared before sentence is handed down.

The teens were recaptured on July 26 by public spirited citizens.
