President Dr Irfaan Ali of the Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), who is seeking re-election at Monday’s polls, has explained that the party has a plan to lead the country and all of its citizens into a prosperous future.
This plan, he said, rests fundamentally on national unity.
“National unity must become the living spirit of our nation, the bond that transcends our differences and lifts us towards a common purpose,” President Ali told hundreds of persons gathered at the party’s final rally at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara.
“My government will in the months ahead forge stronger bonds of national unity built on the recognition that though we may come from different walks of life, we are bound by a shared identity, common values, and a collective dream of progress,” he added.
According to President Ali, “we will ensure a society where fairness prevails, where citizens, regardless of creed, race, or circumstance, feel included and respected, and where social justice is a guarantee”.
“I commit, therefore, that any future government I lead will not merely preserve this ideal but deepen it by strengthening our national institutions, so they inspire trust, by embedding equity and inclusiveness into every policy, and by fostering a culture of respect for diversity. I pledge to continue to shape a nation in which national unity stands as the enduring foundation of our peace, progress and prosperity,” he further noted.
