MV Barima tragedy: MYO remains ready to provide assistance and support

The Muslim Youth Organisation of Guyana (MYO) extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who tragically lost their lives following the sinking of the MV Barima last Saturday night.

We are deeply saddened by this heartbreaking incident and share in the profound grief of the affected families and communities during this extremely difficult period.

As Muslims, we are reminded of the importance of compassion, patience, and supporting one another during times of hardship. We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants His mercy upon those who have passed away, give comfort, strength and patience to the bereaved families and healing to the survivors.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who are still awaiting news of missing relatives. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the survivors, and we pray for their physical and emotional recovery as they cope with the trauma of this tragedy.

The MYO also expresses its sincere appreciation to the members of the Guyana Defence Force, the Guyana Coast Guard, the Maritime Administration Department, the Civil Defence Commission, the Guyana Police Force, private organizations, fishermen, volunteers, healthcare workers, countries that are providing assistance and all those who have dedicated their time and resources to the rescue and recovery efforts. Their courage, commitment, and selfless service are truly commendable.

We encourage all Guyanese to stand together in solidarity, offering comfort, assistance, and prayers to those in need. May this tragedy strengthen our resolve to care for one another and to continue working towards improving safety for everyone who travels on our waterways.
