Early this morning, Friday August 16, 2013, the police carried out raids in Albouystown, Alberttown, Sophia, Meadow Bank, Charlestown and West Front Road during which twenty three (23) men and five (5) women were arrested pending investigations into possession of narcotics, armed robbery and break and enter and larceny.
According to the police, a .25 starter pistol was recovered in Albouystown.
Additionally, police revealed that Lawrence Rodrigues, 27 years, of Light Street, Alberttown, who was sentenced to four years imprisonment during June 2013 following an Ex Parte trial on charges of possession of firearm without license and possession of ammunition without license; and a suspect in the murder of Quincy Sookall were among those arrested.
The body of Quincy Sooklall was found in the Demerara River on August 3, 2013.
