Motorcyclist dies in Lethem accident

Police in Regional Division # 9 are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Thursday November 13, 2025 about 13:00hrs on the Barrack Retreat Corridor, Lethem.

The accident involved a Brazil-registered motorcycle #PYP 7J16, driven by 22-year-old Barth Paul of St. Ignatius Village, Region # 9 (now deceased) and a Brazil-registered motor pickup #OAA 8G45 driven by a 46-year-old male Brazilian national of Central Lethem.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the motorcycle was travelling west along the southern carriageway, while the pickup was proceeding north on the western side of the roadway. At the junction where both paths met, a collision occurred between the two vehicles. As a result, the motorcyclist fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries to his head and about his body

He was picked up by the Emergency Medical Technicians from the Lethem Regional Hospital and taken to the facility where he was examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival.

The body was placed at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. The driver of the pickup is in custody.

Investigations are ongoing.
