Miner remanded over trafficking in narcotics charge

A gold miner yesterday (Monday) appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh to answer to the charge of trafficking in narcotics.

courtAkeem Lashley, 20, of Lot 83 Duke Street, Kingston pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on April 9, 2016,  he had in his possession 18 grams of cannabis  for the purpose of trafficking.

Defense attorney Fung-A-Fat, requested bail for his client but this submission was objected to by the prosecution.

As such the prosecution’s request was granted and Lashley was remanded to prison. The case will continue on May 3.
