Darby Vieira, a 30-year-old miner was been sentenced to one year imprisonment for the unlawful possession of a firearm.
The man was apprehended on April 4 with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Imbaimadai.
He was on Tuesday charged with Possession of Firearm and Ammunition without License when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
Vieira pleaded guilty and was subsequently sentenced to one-year imprisonment along with a fine of $50,000.
