Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the court that on the day in question, police ranks saw Pickering on Cornhill Street acting in a suspicious manner, following which they searched him and found the marijuana in his left side pants pocket.
Pickering told the Court that he suffers from Asthma and uses the substance for that purpose.
After being fined $20,000, the man told the Court that he only had $14,000 in his possession; as such Magistrate McLennan ordered that he pay the remainder before December 10.
He was also ordered to do four weeks community service and failure to do so will result in six months imprisonment.
