Man sentenced to 18 months in jail for felony

An East Ruimveldt man was found guilty today of the offense of attempting to commit a felony, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.

Twenty – six – year old Glenn Dey was not represented by an Attorney when the Magistrate read her decision to him.

According to the information presented in Court by the Prosecutor, on June 4 the accused committed the offence in Georgetown. The court also heard that the man was previously convicted and spent four years in prison for a similar offence.

The Magistrate took into consideration the aggravating factors, the prevalence of the offence and the fact that the accused was convicted for a similar offence and sentenced him to 18 months imprisonment.
