Man remanded for unlawful possession of firearm

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 25-year-old man was today (Tuesday, September 9), remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for unlawful possession of firearm.

Ricky Singh (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on September 7 on the Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown; he had in his possession one 9 mm pistol, when he was not a holder of a firearm license.

Police Prosecutor Michael Grant said facts are as charged and opposed bail on the grounds of the nature, seriousness and prevalence of the offence.

The defendant was unrepresented and the case was put off to September 22.
