Ferdinand Schaddle, 58, of lot 1293 Section ‘C’, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara was remanded to prison for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition illegally.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that on November 02, 2016 at Omai Landing, he had in his possession a 12 gauge shotgun and a 12 gauge cartridge while being unlicenced for same.
The prosecution stated that the police were conducting a routine search for guns and ammunition when they noticed the defendant acting in a suspicious manner. After a search was conducted on his premises, the gun and ammunition were found.
When Schaddle was confronted with the objects, he told ranks that he was keeping the firearm and ammunition for a friend.
Bail was rejected for the unrepresented defendant and his case was transferred to the Mahdia’s Magistrates’ Court.
He is expected to appear on January 17, 2017.
