Man nabbed with illegal firearm on Main Street – Police also recovered shotgun from drain

Police this morning arrested a man who was in possession of an illegal firearm after he was seen acting suspiciously on Main Street in downtown Georgetown.

At about 09:30hrs this morning, ranks of a police mobile patrol conducted a search on a man at Main Street, Georgetown, after he was seen acting suspiciously as the vehicle approached. An unlicensed .22 pistol was found in his possession. The man is in police custody assisting with the investigations.

 Meanwhile, the Guyana Police Force said it has recovered a shotgun from a drain in the city yesterday.
“Acting on information received, ranks of the Police Narcotics Unit yesterday recovered a shotgun that was found in a drain along North Road, Georgetown,” the Police Force said in a statement.
 
Investigations are in progress.
