Man charged with marijuana possession, tells Court he used it for ‘headache’

DSC05335[www.inewsguyana.com] – Shawn Semple of 26 Middle Street, McDoom, East Bank Demerara was fined $3000 and ordered to carry out six months of community service for having narcotics in his possession.

Semple in the Georgetown Magistrates Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with possession of narcotics on Friday October 18.

He pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court that he would usually use the substance whenever he has a headache. It was alleged that on October 14 in Georgetown he had half gram of cannabis on him.

The Chief Magistrate, without much deliberation ordered that the accused complete his community service at the Ruimveldt Police Station and instituted her fine. [Royan Abrams]
