A man was arrested earlier today for attempting to defraud vendors at the Port Maurant market by paying with counterfeit $5,000 bills.
Based on reports received, the man, who has not yet been identified, is a usual customer at the market.Police received a report that he would usually pay using counterfeit money and as such, a sting operation was set up to catch him red handed.
He was taken into police custody for questioning and it is alleged that he was found with a quantity of counterfeit notes in his possession.
Investigations are ongoing.
