Linden records 48 bush fires within a month

0

An estimated 48 bush fires have occurred within a month at Linden, Region 10, due to the current “dry spell”.

This is according to statistics from the community’s fire department, which also shows that this year’s bush fires represent a major increase from last year.

According to information received, some of the fires in the community are caused by the naturally occurring heat in the atmosphere, lit weeds and fires which result from dropped cigarettes.

Just a few days ago, Fire Prevention Officer, Andrew Holder, in an interview with Inews urged persons to desist from lighting fires in open spaces.
