Reports circulating about alleged structural issues at Brickdam Secondary School are inaccurate and misleading.
Once the matter was brought to the attention of the Headmistress, it was immediately reported to the Ministry of Education on Sunday, 11 January. A plumber attended the school that same day, and the issue was fully resolved by Monday, 12 January.
The incident was not structural in nature. It resulted from damage to the catchment beneath the sinks in the female washrooms, combined with taps being left on during a period of low water pressure on Friday.
When water pressure was restored over the weekend, the unattended flow led to an overflow, which caused damage to the ceiling on the lower floor.
