[www.inewsguyana.com] – Head of State President Donald Ramotar said that Assistant Commissioner of Police Derrick Josiah was a very polite and pleasant police officer who executed his duties in a very professional manner.
During a telephone interview with this reporter, President Ramotar said that he had several encounters with the now dead Senior Police Officer in his line of duty and at all times he displayed a very high level of commitment to his work.
The President said that he always viewed Josiah with high regards. He was quoted in the telephone interview as saying “I always had a high level of regard for him”.
The President said that he was shocked when he heard the news of Josiah’s death. According to him, it was only on Wednesday when he returned to Guyana that he asked the Commissioner of Police Leroy Brumell about the condition of Josiah. He said that the Commissioner informed him that the Josiah was doing well and coming around nicely.
President Ramotar on behalf of his family, government and the people of Guyana expressed his deepest condolences to the relatives, families, colleagues and friends of Derrick Josiah.
Josiah died of a suspected heart attack on Friday, December 13 at the Woodlands Hospital after he went for a ‘check – up.’ He was involved in a vehicular accident in November.
