The Ministry of Housing – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) officially launched its Foundation Programme this morning at the Leonora Stadium, Region Three, providing another pathway to affordable homeownership for persons allocated house lots in the Leonora and Meten-Meer-Zorg Housing Schemes.
The programme is designed to assist allottees in constructing their homes by offering standardised foundation options that support timely development of their allocated lots and increase occupancy within housing schemes.
The launch was led by the Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, alongside the Minister within the Ministry, Vanessa Benn, the Chief Executive Officer of CH&PA, Dr Martin Pertab, the Regional Chairman, Inshan Ayube, and Minister within the Ministry of Agriculture, the Vickash Ramkissoon. The Director of Projects, Mr. Omar Narine, as well as the Director of Operations, Mrs. Denise King Tudor, were also in attendance along with other technical staff to roll out the programme.
Under the initiative, beneficiaries will have access to foundation designs in 400 sq. ft., 600 sq. ft., and 950 sq. ft. configurations, creating a solid starting point for future home construction while advancing the Government’s commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities for Guyanese families.
Over the coming weeks, the initiative will be extended to persons who have been allocated lots in other schemes across the country.
